Ben Habegger Every album from The Corner Laughers is filled with witty lyrics, sweet vocals, and catchy, optimistic songs; Temescal Telescope is no exception. So many great songs on display here! “The Accepted Time” is a perfect summer slow jam for cherishing what you have and living in the moment, and “Sisters of the Pollen” zips along with a chorus that will be stuck in your head for days. “The Lilac Line” was great on Karla Kane’s solo album and it’s even better here. Check this album out! Favorite track: The Lilac Line.

donner2k The Accepted Time is so poignant and makes this old mom's heart ache, but for favorite tracks I have to go with Loma Alta for it's haunting beauty. Favorite track: Loma Alta.

He was the calculating boy He had very little joy from any toy that wasn’t numbers He added figures in his head long ago and now he’s dead That’s what they said; eternal slumber And will you be there when it counts? It’s adding up in large amounts You never know just when I’ll pounce, you’ll see A calculating boy She was a scrawny little weed Full of of dandelion seed, what she needed was to scatter She had a way of running wild Ever since she was a child she often smiled, mind over matter And when the young girls start to twitch And everyone begins to itch That’s when they hang you as a witch, just ask A calculating boy If you looked right into the mirror Would I suddenly appear, would all you fear turn into fiction I never was afraid of ghosts but the thing that worries most is how the post becomes addiction A snake from Gloucester to Land’s End Will slither faster than your friend And who’s that coming round the bend? They’ll see The calculating boy

Changeling 02:35
You’re a gray-headed cousin of a hooded crow I’m a May-feted mother of the woods you know Wellspring Primeval everything Like the sun already burning at the break of dawn Like a salmon returning to the place of spawn In dreams Oceans to streams You’re a strange thing I’m a changeling! -- I was born in the center of an epic flood As I struggled to the surface through the rain and mud I cried On the turning tide I was laid in a bed of abalone shell And the waves did rock me in a gentle swell It’s fine I’m a water sign I’m a strange thing You’re a changeling! When the world is overwhelming and the water’s wide Gonna dig a secret tunnel, crawl inside to hide And wait Hope it’s not too late And it’s hard to bridge the gap between the how and the why But you never make a difference if you never try So there It’s alright to care We are strange things We are changelings!

The path down Eagle Hill Like a river, like a winding tributary to the sea And the the sea’s the town on a busy morning or a quiet afternoon I hold your hand and hope you’ll understand I need to Feel your fingers wrapped around mine, please Yes, I know, that life means letting go but I will Hold on just a little longer Our feet upon the leaves That have fallen over night while we were sleeping and the sign We stop to read In the churchyard right beside the open gate Make the time for trees you long to climb and make me take the time to be there with you, please Count the bells, we pass by Mt. Carmel and look up Find the North Star and Orion Walk alongside me If I hurry, tell me ‘wait,’ to go more slowly Now is the accepted time And a walk home can be a world its own.

I woke up to a space in the ceiling in the shape of a circle that lets the sunlight in I spoke up to let you know how I was feeling, I wouldn't let you go to work ill or let the gunfight win You said I know that we'll be fine riding the Lilac Line I know that there's still good deep in the Dersingham wood Little Apple, I could live forever in you I woke up to the scent of eucalyptus or the sound of ukuleles, lost in the Dreamtime again And someday I'll say exactly what I'm thinking, make you spit out the tea you're drinking, and then it's tea time again I said I know that we'll be fine riding the Lilac Line I know that there's still good deep in the Dersingham wood Lolly Leopard, I could live forever with you Snowdrop, bluebell Grow up, do well If I could freeze this moment like an insect in the amber fossilize the way your eyes light up, your voice's timbre Well... Little Apple, I could live forever in you Lolly Leopard, I could live forever with you

Loma Alta 03:59
Lay me under the bay leaves and redwoods again There used to be a train I’m a hundred years in vain Lay me under the bay leaves and redwoods again There used to be a train (Landsdale, Yolanda) I’m a hundred years in vain (Landsdale, Yolanda) I want to wander down Fox Hollow Trail again Above the water tower In the golden hour I want to wander down Fox Hollow Trail again Past the water tower (Loma Alta) In the golden Hour (Loma Alta) Lead me past the pavilion and deer park again All along the brook Berries and a book Lead me past the pavillion and deer park again (Arequipa) All along the brook (Cascade Canyon) blackberries and a book

Sisters of the pollen, calling calling Sisters of the pollen, calling Sisters of the queen cup, golden mean cup Sisters of the queen cup calling Hum hum hum The moments come and then they fly Hum hum swarm The sun so warm, so bright the sky Sisters of the nectar, don’t reject her Sisters of the nectar, humming Sisters of the honey have begun the Sisters of the honey drumming Hum hum hum Vibrating from inside the hive Hum hum hum It must be something so alive, they call us Sisters of the pollen, calling calling Sisters of the pollen, calling Sisters of the queen cup, golden mean cup Sisters of the queen cup calling

Summer men with autumn names Say spring will cure what winter maims It’s what the decomposed remains suggest An autumn man with summer’s face Will come to take his father’s place And there but for the god of grace I guess Goes a wren in the rain, a wren in the rain Again and again like a wren in the rain You build your home inside a fish Close your eyes and make a wish Imagine all the visions you will see You take a stick, you take a twig And hope will bloom from every sprig Maybe someday you’ll take the whole tree Like a wren in the rain, a wren in the rain Again and again like a wren in the rain You sense the spring is coming soon You chart the phases of the moon You send up your weather balloon and pray A winter storm may not last long Reverberating like a gong You’ve fluffed up all your feathers wrong today Like a wren in the rain, a wren in the rain Again and again like a wren in the rain

Rosie Abbott had a rabbit in the library Cosy habits, books, oh yeah, but also songs lovely And, oh, how we loved to sing ‘em, traveled all the way to Bingham Just for lovely Rosie’s rabbit in the library Lorna Morris sang the chorus in the grocery Cooking for us, tea she’d pour us, get our toast for free And, oh, anyone who heard would travel all the way to Birdwood Just for lovely Lorna’s chorus in the grocery All you skylarks of Britain, high marks are written for you All you bright druid daughters, write fluid waters anew

Lord Richard 03:55
A cleansing breeze from across the sky And a golden wind will purify And will we sink or will we fly? Roses around Lord Richard The tribe has spoken and voted me The one most likely to hug a tree Gotta take that title seriously Roses around Lord Richard A captive heart in a wild born Needs a place to start and space to mourn A blooming flower, a hidden thorn Roses around Lord Richard We can keep our secrets or confess Let the pieces rot or coalesce But we need someone to sweep up our mess Roses around Lord Richard With our aching bones or our feelings hurt With a steady drone or a sharp alert Hope to come out clean from a bed of dirt Roses around Lord Richard Roses around Lord Richard Carrion
